Converged & Hyper converged Infrastructure

Converged infrastructure (Cl) brings the four core aspects of a data center compute, storage, networking and server virtualization into a single chassis. Hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) adds tighter integration between more components through software.

Hyper-convergence is a software-centric architecture that tightly integrates compute, storage and virtualization resources in a single system that usually consists of x86 hardware.

A hyper-converged system is typically sold as a commodity hardware box, but it can also be sold as software that can be installed on a buyer's existing hardware or as hardware purchased specifically for the installation.

Converged infrastructure is gaining momentum as IT organizations shift away from owning and managing hardware to a flexible self-service model in which resources are consumed on demand. Rather than multiple IT assets existing in independent silos, converged infrastructure bundles hardware components with Lanagement software to orchestrate and provision the resources as a single integrated system.
